A substantial and well-founded partnership, created 4 years ago, between SIAD Macchine Impianti and JOiiNT LAB, a joint laboratory between the Italian Institute of Technology and the Consorzio Intellimech, aimed at technology transfer and creating synergy between the research world and industrial requirements. SIAD Macchine Impianti is one of the Champion companies leading the innovation process, providing application contexts for the technologies developed in the laboratory. The main goal is the development of robotics applied to industry.

With this vision, SIAD Macchine Impianti and JOiiNT LAB have completed their first project, whose main objective is the development of robotic intelligence solutions for human safety. This project led to the creation of a humanoid robot capable of performing different tasks; in particular, the case involved the inspection of weld joints in technical gas treatment plants.

This type of high-quality inspection has always posed a risk to the operator, as it must be carried out when the pipes are under pressure. To continuously improve safety and process digitalization, the innovative research project conceived by SIAD MI and JOiiNT LAB proposed having the inspection performed by a semi-autonomous avatar.

The test, conducted in May at the Bariano plant, was successful, demonstrating how robotic intelligence can support humans, making work much safer and more efficient.
