Hydrogen and mobility: SIAD MI compressor chosen for the Falconara Hydrogen Project

SIAD Macchine Impianti (SIAD MI) has been awarded an important contract by Opificio Idrogeno Marche, a company formed by Renco SpA and the Pollarini Group, for the supply of an oil-free high-pressure hydrogen compressor for the Falconara Hydrogen Project. This project, which involves the construction of a hub for the production of green hydrogen in the area of the former Montedison plant in the province of Ancona, marks a fundamental step in Italy's energy transition. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026 and will include a green hydrogen filling station for buses and cars, with the aim of promoting sustainable mobility and accelerating the adoption of low-impact energy solutions.
The SIAD MI compressor currently in production at the Bergamo headquarters is the result of an extended research project on oil-free high-pressure hydrogen compression, with the ability to reach pressures of up to 550 bar. SIAD MI’s vast experience in hydrogen compression - spanning more than 70 years with over 500 compressors installed worldwide - and the use of latest-generation materials and technologies, have made it possible to optimize the overall performance of the compressor, thus reducing power consumption and extending maintenance intervals, leading to a significant reduction in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Furthermore, the turnkey solution within an enclosure, carefully designed for H2 refueling/refilling applications, not only guarantees the highest safety standards, but also enables the end user to simplify site management, thereby reducing commissioning and start-up times.
Participation in the Falconara Hydrogen Project highlights the SIAD Group's commitment to developing innovative technologies for decarbonizing the transport sector, supporting the transition to a low environmental impact economy.
