The Zohr Project : SIAD Macchine Impianti wins the Mediterranean challenge

The Zohr Project began operating in December 2017, after only two years and four months from the discovery in the Egyptian territorial waters of Zohr, the largest offshore natural gas field in the whole Mediterranean, thus becoming the fastest built plant in history.
Among the various and diversified areas of expertise required for the synergistic finalizing of all the design steps, SIAD Macchine Impianti (SIAD MI) was chosen by the customer for the complete supply of two horizontal API 618 Compressors for the treatment of hydrocarbons, with annexed auxiliary systems and automation.
At a technical level, due to the composition of the processed gas, it was essential to carefully select the materials for the construction of the compressors and to provide a detailed engineering design aimed at minimizing the risk of dispersion in the environment : this objective was fully achieved by SIAD MI through the study and supply of a complex and highly customized package.
Thanks to a dynamic and focused action plan - together with a high level of technological innovation - the Compressors Division of SIAD MI has been able to complete the challenge combining the strengths and skills of all departments, working in record times: in fact, only 11 months have passed from the order to the dispatch of the first compressor, and 12 months for the second one, so reducing the traditionally 5 months longer delivery times for compressors of this size.
Now SIAD MI is preparing to complete the delivery of another API 618 compressor, with the same construction characteristics, by the end of September 2018.
The success achieved in this highly significant project has given further acknowledgment and prestige to the Bergamo-based company, rewarded in the Egyptian market with the realization of new orders and future collaborations.
